Meet Allyn Wilson, a 2025 PFL Scholarship Winner

Receiving the Lutzie 43 Prepared for Life (PFL) Scholarship is an honor that fills me with immense gratitude. This scholarship is not just financial support—it is a symbol of a movement rooted in character, leadership, and responsible decision-making. I am truly thankful to be selected as a recipient because it affirms the values I strive to live by and empowers me to pursue my goals while honoring the legacy of Philip Lutzenkirchen.

The first time I heard about the Lutzie 43 Foundation was when I attended a leadership conference in the ninth grade. I remember sitting in that room, listening to Philip Lutzenkirchen’s story and learning about the mission of the foundation. It wasn’t just another talk or presentation—it truly stuck with me. I was struck by how the foundation turned tragedy into a powerful call for change. That moment opened my eyes to how character and decision-making could shape not only our own lives but the lives of those around us. From that day forward, I knew I wanted to be more than just a supporter of the foundation—I wanted to be an ambassador.

To me, being a Lutzie 43 Ambassador means leading with intention, both in public and in private. It means understanding the impact of our choices and encouraging others to be mindful of theirs. Ambassadors are role models not because they are perfect, but because they are committed to learning, growing, and standing up for what’s right. It’s about using your voice to promote safe driving, responsible behavior, and strong moral values. It’s about embodying the very qualities that Philip stood for: humility, leadership, kindness, and integrity.

Ever since that conference, I have looked up to the work of the Lutzie 43 Foundation and the individuals who have carried forward its mission. I’ve tried to live in a way that reflects those principles, and now, receiving the PFL Scholarship, I feel more connected than ever to that original calling I felt as a ninth grader. Being selected affirms my commitment to live out the values of the Lutzie 43 Foundation and motivates me to continue being a positive influence, not just in my community today, but wherever life leads me.

Philip Lutzenkirchen was not only an exceptional athlete, but a young man known for his character, leadership, and heart. The Lutzie 43 Foundation was born from a tragic loss, but it has become a powerful force for good, aiming to instill the qualities that Philip represented in students across the country. To be recognized as someone who reflects those values is deeply humbling. It reminds me that our choices, both big and small, matter—and that by being intentional about living a life of integrity, we can make a real impact.

The “43 Lessons to Legacy” character curriculum encouraged me to reflect deeply on the decisions I make and how they align with who I want to be. In applying for this scholarship, I was given the opportunity to examine my personal growth and commit to being a leader both on and off the field—or in my case, in the classroom, community, and everyday life. The scholarship’s emphasis on accountability and preparedness has inspired me to hold myself to a higher standard, not just for my own success, but for the well-being of others.

This scholarship also means I can pursue higher education with greater confidence and less financial burden. I am grateful for the support that allows me to focus more fully on my academics and extracurricular involvement, and to work toward a future where I can give back. Education is a gift, and knowing that the Lutzie 43 Foundation believes in me enough to invest in my future is something I don’t take lightly. It motivates me to make the most of every opportunity and to continue striving for excellence.

Perhaps most importantly, receiving this scholarship connects me to a community of like-minded individuals—people who understand the importance of character, decision-making, and leadership. Being a part of the Lutzie 43 Foundation’s mission inspires me to be an advocate for safe driving, responsible choices, and positive influence. I want to be someone who leads by example, who lifts others up, and who never forgets the responsibility I have to make thoughtful, respectful decisions.

I am especially thankful because this scholarship is not only a celebration of my past achievements, but a call to action for the future. It reminds me that I am capable of being a leader who lives intentionally and influences others to do the same. It tells me that character counts, even when no one is watching. It reinforces my belief that I can—and must—be a force for good.

Thank you to the Lutzie 43 Foundation for believing in me and for turning loss into purpose. I carry the lessons of this scholarship with me in all I do. I will honor Philip’s legacy by living a life of purpose, integrity, and service, and by striving each day to be truly “Prepared for Life.”
