Lutzie 43

Meet Emma Claire King, a 2023 PFL Scholarship Winner

I am beyond grateful to be a recipient of the Prepared for Life (PFL) Scholarship. I will forever be appreciative of Lutzie 43 Foundation for allowing me to further my secondary education at Auburn University.

I attended my first Auburn football game before I could walk. Auburn University has always been a treasured part of my family. Having someone like Philip Lutzenkirchen as part of the Auburn family is not something you forget. As a young girl, I watched Philip on the football field every Saturday in Jordan-Hare. Now as a young adult, I’ve learned about Philip’s character and the impact he left on Auburn’s campus. He was loyal to his team and devoted to his Auburn family. With his time at Auburn, Philip used his platform in the public eye to show his purpose on earth and more importantly who he lived for. Philip showed that success is not just about individual achievements, but more importantly about contributing to the success and achievements of others. Philip Lutzenkirchen left a legacy that has taught me the importance of teamwork, leadership, and service. His unexpected and tragic passing has made me realize that life is short. We should never miss an opportunity to make a positive impact on those around us, and we should live every moment to the fullest as we are never promised tomorrow.

Service is something I remember Philip most for, and when reading through the Safeguarding Your Legacy Curriculum I learned even more about the things he was involved in during his time here on earth. From high school to college, Philip’s story is filled with selflessness and many lives being changed for the better. Philip’s story emphasizes why we serve others and strvie to meet the needs of others within our communities. Over the past few years, I have been able to serve in multiple clubs where community service was our ultimate goal. As a volunteer intern, I was able to plan and participate in life-changing weekends and afternoons as we went into our community to serve underprivileged neighborhoods. Bible Club is a ministry that I have had the honor of seeing grow over the past few years. Being able to be there for my community as well as families and children that are often overlooked has brought so much joy in my life.

I am excited for the ways the Lord will use me for His glory on the campus of Auburn University. I am both humbled and honored that I have the opportunity to promote 43 Key Seconds to my peers to promote safe driving as well as live out the many ways Philip impacted Auburn’s campus.  Thank you to the Lutzenkirchen family and the Lutzie 43 Foundation for entrusting me with the honor of carrying on Philip’s legacy.
