Meet Kayleigh Everage, a 2023 PFL Scholarship Winner

My name is Kayleigh Everage and I am humbled and esteemed to be a 2023 Prepared for Life (PFL) Scholarship recipient. I am extremely blessed to have the privilege of carrying the legacy of Philip Lutzenkirchen and his honor with me as I embark on a new journey and become an advocate in my college community for safe, smart, and distraction-free driving. I would like to thank Mr. Mike Lutzenkirchen and the Lutzie 43 Foundation for providing me with this amazing opportunity that not only allows me to further my education, but to be a source of light and blessing to others, just like Philip was, and for the constant work they are doing in the community to raise awareness.

Growing up, Auburn football has always been a huge part of my life. Starting from a young age, I have always looked up to the Auburn football players as amazing athletes with amazing stories. Philip was known by everyone and he was always one of my favorite players to watch and to high five at tiger walk or other events even at a very young age. My mom always emphasized Philip as a true role model, not only as a superstar athlete, but also as a person off of the field. He was known for his God-fearing attitude and an inspiration to so many through many acts of kindness. Just like him, I hope to represent myself and Auburn University in such a positive light and am able to truly make a difference on campus and promote Philip’s legacy always by being a Lutzie 43 Foundation ambassador.

Completing the 43 Lessons to Legacy curriculum throughout the scholarship application process has taught me so much and has provided me with the tools to promote and influence safe driving not only on my campus, but now wherever I go as well. This curriculum is so beneficial and I am blessed to have been able to complete it, as well as sign the safe driving 43 Key Seconds Safe Driving Pledge, and I would encourage everyone to do it as well. I have learned so much and all the lessons in the curriculum have so many important and beneficial messages that I will carry with me forever. Receiving this scholarship is so important to me because of the meaningful and powerful message behind it, and now I am honored and tasked with continuing to spread the work of the Lutzie 43 Foundation.

Every life is a gift, and those gifts are meant to be shared. Now, I hope to take the gift of my life and use it to share the gift of Philip’s legacy with others. I am now held accountable through this scholarship and I am looking forward to sharing the message and to ultimately live, love, and learn, just like Lutz did. I hope to live a life like Lutz and carry the message of smart decisions and safe driving through him and for him now and while I attend Auburn.
